公証人とは何ですか？

公証人とは、高等裁判所の書記官によって任命された誠実さを証明された人物であり、承認、宣誓、確約、および法律で認められているその他の行為を行う際の公平な証人として一般市民に奉仕します。公証人は、簡単な指示に従い、職務を遂行する際に適切な判断と裁量を行使する必要があります。

公証は、文書に含まれる記述が真実または正確であることを保証するものではありません。公証人は、文書の内容を確認したり、文書の内容または認証されたコピーについての知識があることを示す義務はありません。公証は、ドキュメントを合法化または検証しません。公証前にエラーがあった文書には、後で同じエラーが含まれます。

With the adoption of House Bill 1292 by the Georgia General Assembly during the 2024 legislative session, Georgia’s notaries public will be required to complete an educational training course as part of the application process. Additionally, notaries will be required to maintain a journal of their notarial acts performed at the request of a self-filer.
